Sitting here on Fat Tuesday, the day of my thirty-fifth birthday, I can't help but marvel at what a hoopla it would would've been back in the day. The college days, that is. There were no parades, beads or hurricanes this year. Rather, I was just as pleased as punch to simply celebrate over loads of good food and good times with our sweet little family.
We gussied up this morning to head to Atlanta's Westside (my fave locale in all of the city) for a delightful lunch at Bocado. This was our first time taking the littles and it went much better than expected (there are neither cups with lids nor a kids menu). I adore the stylish, organic atmosphere and haven't tried a thing on the farm-to-table menu that didn't totally please the palette. As usual, we started with the garlic and herb hand cut fries and deviled eggs. And today I dined on a stacked sandwich of roasted poblano pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes and bacon with a side of tomato bisque. Add an ice cold, glass bottled, pure cane sugar Mexican Coca-Cola and I was one happy birthday girl! [And for those interested, know that Bocado also boasts a chic bar with a hip vibe that is always a fun see-and-be-seen scene on the weekend.]
Scott's Antique Market back in January. A good man indeed.
Genki, our long time go-to noodles and sushi bar. We gorged on sushi (the super crunch roll is to die for) and shared a gigantic pot of traditional Japanese soup while enjoying Japanese big beers (Honey) and a scrumptious dragon berry vodka twist on a mojito (me). A delectable meal for sure.
