Savannah Day 3: My Parent’s Place

I gave a mini-tour of my parents home all decorated for the holidays and thought it would be fun to share pictures of what their pretty place looks like the other eleven months of the year.

I adore the creeping fig trained on the rise of their front steps.  I also adore their extremely manicured landscaping…mine is dreadfully out out of control (as in forty some odd years of untamed growth…ew.)

I swoon over the grass cloth in the entry way and wish there were a place for a grandfather clock in our abode.  As you’ll see, Mother has a fiery love for gorgeous antiques.

My grandmother’s baby grand piano is hands down my very favorite piece of Mother’s.  If only I hadn’t been such a dreadful student in the years and years of piano lessons…

I love all of Mother’s blue transfer ware paired with the yellow and raspberry.  It’s elegant, unexpected and down right happy.

The den is one of my favorite rooms in the house, and the nook above is one of my favorite vignettes.  I’d love to carbon copy it in our place.  March 2012 183

I envy this gigantic kitchen – so easy to work and move around in, and lovely to boot!

I regret that I couldn’t share the bedrooms today, but let me just tell you, it was nothing short of a miracle that I was able to get these pictures with six adults and three kids (and everyone’s junk) to contend with.  Next time we visit I’ll photograph first before everyone’s had time to get to comfortable.

Have a grand day!

Your parent's home is just lovely. I can tell that she loves being a homemaker. It is warm, comfortable and friendly feeling.

I can see that it is a ranch. We are thinking of downsizing and moving to a ranch and I have been resistant to not having a 2nd story. This gives me hope that I can find one I like- xo Diana
