I gathered up some of our most beloved pics of the baby, a few prints and a couple of other special items for the wall, including the Yes Ma’am, No Ma’am print from The Old Try (see my others here), How to Tie a Bow Tie – A Gentleman’s Guide, the John Derian plate he received for his third birthday, a monogrammed bib from Mother and a copy of a nautical chart of the Savannah River and Wassaw Sound from River Services in Savannah (see it on my coffee table here.)
And while we’re on the subject of the gallery wall, you really cannot beat an Ikea Ribba frame if you’ve got a pile of pics to hang on an ant-hill’s budget. I mean, they come in a whole slew of sizes and you can mix and match everything from a standard frame to a collage to a matted picture to a shadow box. Oh, and did I mention that they are totally affordable?!?! What’s not to love?
I hung these using the very same tried and true process used in the massive basement stairway gallery.
1. Trace your frames onto paper and cut out.
2. Use painters tape to move them around on the wall until you find the perfect layout.
3. Put your nail in the wall straight through the paper for each pic. Pull of the paper and hang up your art!

I think this is the best way to create a gallery wall. I used to arrange the frames on the floor, but your way is much better. I'm gonna try it next time. Good job, like the prints!

Hooch - YES! It's the ikea fabric. Took me forever to find it in stock but I'm SO happy I waited!
That is one spoiled baby :) Just kidding...you know I think Cookie needs all that!!!

I want to make curtains for my family room. I saw you used the rings to hang yours, do you do anything to the tops? Do you have pleats or just straight across?

Jeanne - I usually just clip the rings right on without pleating but with these I actually used the clip rings to hold the pleats!
Hey--I have all boys and a colonial (in Georgia), too :). Love the gallery wall...I wimped out and used the Ribba picture ledges for the one in my den, but I'm going to have to do a real one sooner or later!

I put some cut paper off of the kid's artist roll (also from ikea) behind the print and then the mat that came in the frame behind the paper. Does that even make sense? :-)

I feel like a bit of an idiot after seeing your method of using the cut-outs. That is way easier than laying them out on the floor, like I did! It looks great and I love the curtains!
