On My Bedside {Shadow Man}

Y’all, I spent a few nights over the holidays engrossed and enthralled with The Shadow Man by Savannah native Mark Murphy.  A psychological thriller set in sultry Savannah, I found book to be a beguiling page turner and one of the best reads to have graced my bedside in a good long while.

The Shadow Man

Goodreads says:
Savannah surgeon Malcolm King had a perfect life--a loving wife, devoted daughter, and a thriving medical practice. But when a random airport parking lot hit-and-run links him to a dead body in a Florida hotel and an acquaintance is found dismembered and stuffed into a garbage bag, Malcolm finds himself on the run as a suspected serial killer. But he's no murderer. Or is he?

Who is the mysterious Thin Man who lurks at the edges of his vision? Are the ravens that crowd the skies overhead a warning of impending doom--or do they exist at all?

With the help of Seminole tracker Billy Littlebear, Malcolm tries to untangle the web of clues left behind by a mysterious chameleon-like killer known as the Shadow Man. But will he be too late? The Shadow Man is a complex, atmospheric thriller in the tradition of Stephen King. Darkly evocative and relentless in its twists and turns, it dares the reader to put it down--even for a minute.

Now y’all share what’s on your bedsides!
xoxo

Sophie and the Rising Sun by Augusta Trobaugh...set in Georgia just before Pearl Harbor. I just finished Swan Place by Ms Trobaugh and had to read more of her books. She is a southern writer who writes so poignantly of Georgia.

I'm a Savannah native too and loved Shadow Man. Kept wondering who they were going to put in the movie. I have a handful of parenting books on my bed-side table. Sorry, but I've got a 3yr old and a 1.5yr old... Someone gave me Kisses from Katie for Christmas and I'm looking forward to reading that.

Thanks for the reco Amanda. I just finished Defending Jacob last night, exactly as you said, unfinished questions and sad. I just recently read Gone Girl, twisted, but compelling. Next up is Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly. I read all kinds, obviously!

I loved Shadow Man. I did not think that I would because I usually do not like mystery and murder. To be honest, I was only reading it because it was written by an old school friend. I could not put it down. Very good read!!!!!

I love novels set in the south, esp. cities I love, like Savannah. Just loaded it on my Kindle. Looking forward to a good read!

Sounds like a great book...I might start that over the weekend. Right now I'm reading Death of a Neighborhood Witch by Laura Levine {fluff mystery LOL}.

I'm visiting from Jones Design.

I just finished Readicide by Kelly Gallagher -- it's about teachers using "kill and drill" practices to effectively destroy a student's desire to read for enjoyment, which I wholeheartedly agree with and try to fight on a regular basis. Next up is Following Atticus, which originally got me because of the name, and then kept me reading because it's just different and rather inspiring. I also have King's 11/22/63 on my nook for emergencies. :)
